Projects

Here, you can find a list of the newest projects currently being worked on in the Englert lab, as well as a brief description about what the project entails!

Targeting mTORC1 activation during lung injury
Targeting mTORC1 activation during lung injury

Discovering mTORC1’s role as a mechanosensor in lung injury during ventilation. Reshaping respiratory medicine.

Nanoparticle drug delivery for ARDS
Nanoparticle drug delivery for ARDS

Prior ARDS trials used systemic delivery but didn’t succeed. Our inhaled lipid nanoparticles with miR-146a prevent lung injury in mechanosensitive lung macrophages.

Zinc metabolism in ARDS
Zinc metabolism in ARDS

Zinc deficiency increases lung injury risk during ventilation. Our study with 650 ICU patients may lead to a clinical trial for ARDS zinc supplementation.

Translation studies of critically-ill ICU patients
Translation studies of critically-ill ICU patients

Dr. Englert collaborates on biorepositories, investigating ARDS mechanisms in diverse patient groups and participating in 30+ ICU clinical trials.
